Become an American Red Cross

Authorized Provider

It's easy to make training more relevant to your  specific organization when you become an American Red Cross authorized provider. As an authorized provider, you can offer health and safety programs at your facility, with your own instructors who have completed our train-the trainer courses.

  • Cost-effectively reach large groups
  • Schudule training on site, at your convenience
  • Address regulatory issues specific to your organization
  • Create in-house experts familiar with your emergency procedures and emergency response equipment
  • Receive administrative and technical support form your local Red Cross chapter

Step 1. Instructor Training

Have one of your employees trained as an Instructor in any of the following areas:

  • First Aid, CPR/AED for the Lay Responder
  • CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
  • Water Safety
  • Lifeguarding
  • Emergency Response
  • Babysitting
  • HIV/AIDS

 

All American Red Cross Instructors must:

  • Be at least 17 years of age,
  • Pass a Pre-Course session (Basic FA, CPR/AED) and
  • Complete the Fundamentals of Instructor Training (FIT) course

The Pre-Course and FIT are usually Included within the Instructor Training Course which then takes approximately 24 hours to complete. Depending on the Instructor Trainer this is typically divided into six 4hr evening classes or three 8hr day classes.

The cost of the Instructor Training Course is $150 which includes all your instructor material.

We currently schedule Instructor Training classes once every quarter.

Step 2. Authorized Povider Agreement

Complete an Authorized Provider agreement.

The AP agreement outlines the expectations of your organization, the instructor and the Red Cross chapter you will be working with. It also covers guidelines and associated costs involved with your organization providing classes to your employees.  

   

Step 3. Employee Training

Schedule training for your employees as needed.
