Team Up to Prepare
It's a fact. Disasters happen. From flooding to tornadoes to earthquakes, disasters happen and they do not discriminate. Individuals, families, and businesses are affected, and communities are tested by their ability to respond quickly, effectively, and decisively.
At times, the force and significance of a disaster can overwhelm the resources of local and state government agencies. However, communities that are prepared in advance are better positioned to help themselves and others in times of disaster.
The American Red Cross is widely recognized as the leading non-governmental provider of disaster relief. We need your help to effectively provide for the disaster-related needs of St. Joseph County.
How can you help? By developing a Disaster Response Team, you can assist the Red Cross in preparing for and responding to disasters in St. Joseph County.
It's easy. It's effective. And it will help your company be part of the solution before the problem arrives.
It's Easy
-
Selected a team of individuals within your company who are committed to disaster response.
-
Allow us to train these people in one of the eight major areas of Red Cross disaster relief.
-
Grant this team leave, up to three days, to assist the Red Cross during time of disaster.
-
And help your community recover from the devastating effects of a disaster.
Areas of Activity:
Our Commitment to You
Your Disaster Response Team will only be called upon in times of true need. Only in mass disasters - where the Red Cross' usual team of volunteers is overwhelmed - would your team be called upon to respond.
Your Commitment to Us
In addition to an initial meeting to determine your company's area of activity, we would need one half-day to train your volunteers. This would be reviewed annually. Then, at the time of disaster, we would ask that your Team be released for up to three days to assist with Red Cross relief activities.
