The American Red Cross has emergency services 24 hours per day, every day.  Disaster response and assisting military families with emergency communications needs are handled whether the Chapter offices are open or not.

In the event that severe weather may necessitate postponement of a Chapter sponsored class (at the Red Cross offices), the primary means for notifying participants will be via local television news listings.  The Chapter will:

1)  Notify the local television stations and radio stations for their closings listings.  These include WNDU (Channel 16) and WSBT (Channel 22) and other local broadcast outlet.

2) For daytime classes (starting during morning hours), these stations will be notified by 6:00 a.m. on the day of the scheduled class.

3) For evening classes, (starting after 5 p.m.) the notification will occur by 11:00 a.m. on the day of the scheduled class; the later notice is provided in case the weather improves and the class can be held at the later hour.

4) The Chapter will do its best to update its website, www.stjoe-redcross.org, with rescheduling information.

5) The Chapter will not be able to ensure that it can contact every class participant, so please be sure to consult the above media outlets.

6) If you are in doubt about whether a class will take place, please call the Chapter offices, 574-234-0191.
